Set up your accounts
Short answer
Open Accounts and click Add account. Give it a name, a currency and a starting capital. For a prop-firm challenge, tick the prop firm box and enter its profit target, drawdown and daily loss limit.
Accounts 3 on Basic, unlimited on Pro.
Vink starts you with one account called Main account. Rename it, or add the accounts you really trade. Every figure in Vink is measured per account, so a prop-firm challenge is measured against its own rules.
Add an account
- Open Accounts and click Add account.
- Fill in Name. It's the only required field.
- Pick the Currency and enter the Starting capital. Return and drawdown are measured from it.
- Optionally add the broker or prop firm and the account ID.
- Click Add account.
Vink doesn't convert between currencies. When you look at accounts in different currencies together, totals show as Mixed, not converted.
Set up a prop-firm account
Tick Prop firm account (track targets & limits) on the same form. Three more fields appear:
- Profit target: the profit that passes the phase.
- Max drawdown limit: how far the account may fall.
- Daily loss limit: how much you may lose in one day.
Then choose where Drawdown measured from starts. Your firm's rules say which one applies:
- The starting balance. The floor never moves: a static drawdown.
- The high-water mark, updated at each day's close: the floor follows your highest balance, raised once a day.
- The high-water mark, updated after every trade: the floor follows your highest balance after each closed trade.
With a trailing drawdown you can tick Floor stops trailing at the starting balance, and add a buffer, if your firm locks the floor there. Vink measures drawdown on closed trades. Your firm's own dashboard stays the final word.
For a funded account, tick Funded account. A funded account has no next phase.
Phases: from challenge to funded
A challenge that leads to a second phase or a funded account is a chain. When you add the next phase, pick the account it Continues from. Vink archives the earlier phase for you and keeps its trades. On Accounts, + Add next phase does the same from an existing account.
When an account reaches its profit target, Vink marks it passed. When it breaks the drawdown or the daily loss limit, Vink marks it lost.
Import accounts from MetaTrader
Click Import from MetaTrader on Accounts and drop a screenshot of the MetaTrader Navigator panel with the Accounts tree open. Vink reads each account's name, number, server, currency and size, and shows them in a table. Check them and add the ones marked New. This reading counts as one chart reading.
Archive or delete an account
On Accounts, Archive hides an account you no longer trade and keeps its trades. Unarchive brings it back. Deleting an account asks what happens to its trades: move them to another account, or delete them with the account. Deleting can't be undone. You always keep at least one active account.
