HelpLogging trades

Edit or delete a trade

Short answer

Open the trade and click Edit, change what you need and click Save changes. To delete it, click Delete on the trade, then Delete trade. Deleting can't be undone. On Trades you can select several trades to delete, move, copy or combine.

Open a trade

Open Trades and click the symbol of a trade. You can also open one from Recent trades on the dashboard, or from a day on the dashboard's calendar. On the trade's page, ‹ and › step to the trade before and after.

Edit a trade

  1. On the trade's page, click Edit. On Trades, the pencil icon does the same.
  2. Change what you need.
  3. Click Save changes.

The form is the same one you logged the trade with. A few things work differently when you edit:

  • P&L you saved stays as it is. Vink doesn't recalculate it when you change a price. Clear the field to get Vink's estimate back.
  • R, R:R and Pips you typed yourself stay as they are. The ones Vink worked out follow the prices again.
  • The times stay as they were saved.
  • A missed trade stays missed. You can't turn it into a taken trade, or the other way around.
  • Fields set to Always ask don't have to be filled in when you edit.

Saving replaces the trade with what's on the form, so a field you empty is cleared on the trade. To leave without saving, click ← Back.

Change the screenshots, or read the chart again

On the edit form, + Add a chart adds another screenshot. You can also drop a file or paste one. The × on a screenshot removes it when you save. The screenshot you select is the trade's main one.

Vink doesn't read a chart by itself when you edit. To read it again, click a screenshot, then Read selected screenshot. Vink replaces the fields it reads with what it reads now, and never touches the P&L. Check them before you save. Get a good chart reading, and fix a wrong one explains the check.

Delete a trade

  1. On the trade's page, click Delete. On Trades, the trash icon does the same.
  2. Click Delete trade.

Deleting can't be undone. It removes the trade with its screenshots, tags, plan checks and your own fields. Your tags themselves stay on the Tags page. If a prop-firm account was already marked passed or lost, deleting a trade doesn't change that.

Work with several trades at once

On Trades, tick the trades you want, or tick the box at the top to select the whole page. A bar appears with what you can do:

  • Delete removes them all, up to 200 at a time.
  • Move puts them in another account. Copy adds a copy to another account, with the tags, screenshots and notes.
  • Combine merges trades on the same symbol, in the same direction and account, into one trade. The entry becomes the size-weighted average, each exit is kept as a partial exit, and the P&L is added up. The original trades are removed.
  • Compare opens up to six of the selected trades side by side.

Selecting trades works on a wider screen. On a phone, Trades shows a list of cards you can open one by one.

Your verdict

On a taken trade with a result, Your verdict asks you to judge the decision, not the result: Good trade, Mistake or Bad luck. Click one to save it, and click it again to clear it. Your weekly review and Stats use it.

In the Simple world

Simple has its own way to edit and delete a trade. Use the Simple world explains it.

When your plan has ended

With a read-only plan, you can still open and read every trade, but Edit and Delete are hidden. Basic or Pro, the trial, and canceling explains what happens when a plan ends.
