Import your trades from MetaTrader 5
Short answer
Save your trade history in MetaTrader 5 as a report (.html or .xlsx). In Vink, open Import trades, drop the report, pick the account and click Import. Trades you imported before are skipped.
Vink reads the trade history report that MetaTrader 5 saves, and adds every closed position as a trade. It's the only report Vink imports for now.
Save the report in MetaTrader 5
In MetaTrader 5 on your computer, open the History tab, right-click the list and choose Report. Save it as HTML or as an Excel (.xlsx) file. Pick the period you want to import first.
Import it
- In Vink, open Settings and click Import trades… under Your data. On New trade, the Import trades button opens the same page.
- Drop the report, or click to choose it.
- Check the preview. Each trade is marked New or Imported.
- Under Import into, pick the account. If an account's ID matches the report's account number, Vink picks it for you.
- Under Times in this report are, pick your broker's clock. The preview shows the times in your own time zone.
- Click the button that says Import and the number of new trades.
Your broker's clock
MetaTrader prints every time in your broker's server time, which can be hours away from yours. Pick the clock, and Vink converts each time to your own time zone:
- UTC+2, UTC+3 in summer (most brokers): the server day starts at 17:00 New York time. Vink follows the change to summer time on its own.
- A fixed offset, such as UTC+3, if your broker uses one all year.
- As printed (no change) keeps the report's times.
Your broker's website or support can tell you its server time. Vink remembers the clock for the account, so your next report from it uses the same one.
What Vink brings in
For each closed position: the symbol, the direction, the size, the entry and exit price, the stop-loss and target, and the open and close time. P&L is the report's profit with commission and swap included. Vink works out the outcome, the R and the pips from those.
Orders on the same symbol and direction opened within 3 minutes of each other are offered as one trade, with a box ticked to combine them. Untick it to keep them apart.
What you add yourself
The report has no screenshots, tags, notes, timeframe or mental side. Open a trade and click Edit to add them.
Importing the same report twice
Vink knows each position by its MetaTrader ID and skips the ones you imported before. You can import an overlapping report safely.
If you imported trades before with the wrong clock, import the same report again with the right one. Vink corrects the entry and exit times of the trades it imported before, and changes nothing else on them. As printed (no change) never changes times you already have.
Limits
A report can be up to 6 MB and 5,000 trades. For more, save a shorter period and import it in parts.
