HelpWhen something looks wrong

My numbers don't match my broker

Short answer

For a trade logged from a screenshot, Vink estimates the P&L from the price move and the size, without fees. Type the P&L from your broker on the trade, after costs, and Vink uses that figure everywhere.

A trade's P&L is different

When Vink fills in the P&L on a new trade, it works it out as the price move times the size. How exact that is depends on where the size came from:

  • Size from your risk. If you entered Risk, Vink sets the size so that hitting the stop loses exactly that amount. The P&L follows from it.
  • Size you typed. Vink multiplies by the symbol's usual contract size: 100,000 for a forex lot, 100 for gold, and 1 for everything else. Your broker's contracts can differ, and the result is in the pair's quote currency, not your account's currency. Treat it as an estimate.

Vink has no field for commission, swap or fees, so neither estimate includes them.

To match your broker, type the P&L from your broker into P&L on the trade, after costs. You can type a sum, like 200+200+35. Once a trade is saved with a P&L, Vink never recalculates it. Clear the field to get Vink's estimate back.

Trades from a MetaTrader 5 import already carry your broker's P&L, with commission and swap included.

Your return is different

Return is your net P&L divided by the starting capital of your accounts. Check that Starting capital on each account is the balance you started with. On the dashboard, the Return tile covers the period you picked, not the whole life of the account.

Your drawdown is different

The Max drawdown tile is the largest fall of your running P&L, from its high to a low after it. A prop firm's drawdown rule is a different figure. Vink measures that one per account, on closed trades, the way you set it up in Set up your accounts. It doesn't include open positions, and Vink counts a day from midnight to midnight in the times on your trades. Your firm may start its day at another hour. Your firm's own dashboard stays the final word.

Your totals mix currencies

Vink doesn't convert between currencies. When the accounts you're looking at use different currencies, totals are added up without a symbol and marked Mixed, not converted. Pick a single account for exact totals.

Some trades have no P&L

A trade with an R but no P&L is valued at your account's risk per trade. Totals that include such trades say they're estimated. Type the P&L on those trades to replace the estimate.

The glossary gives the exact formula for every figure.
