HelpLogging trades

Add your own fields

Short answer

Open Settings, then Manage fields under Custom fields, and click Add a field. Name it and pick a type. It shows on every trade you log, and Stats can split your results by it.

Custom fields 3 on Basic, 10 on Pro.

A custom field is a value you choose to record on every trade. Vink stores it with the trade and lets you compare your results by it.

Add a field

  1. Open Settings. Under Custom fields, click Manage fields.
  2. Click Add a field.
  3. Fill in Name, for example market condition.
  4. Pick a Type.
  5. Click Add field.

The types

  • Choice: one pick from a list you set, such as Trending, Ranging or Choppy. It needs at least two options.
  • Text: a few words you type on each trade.
  • Number: a number, with a unit if you want one, such as spread in pips.
  • Percentage: a number from 0 to 100.
  • Yes / No: yes or no.

Fill it in on a trade

Your fields show under Your fields on the trade form and on the trade's page. A Text field suggests what you typed before.

Turn on Always ask for a field, and Vink won't save a new trade until it's filled in. Editing a trade never asks.

See your results by it

On Stats, open Where does my edge come from, and where does it leak?. Under Your fields, pick a field to split your results by its values. Trades without a value are grouped as Not filled in.

Change, archive or delete a field

Open the ⋯ menu on a field's row:

  • Rename changes the name. On a choice field, Rename or edit options also adds or archives options. Renaming an option changes it on every trade that uses it.
  • Move up and Move down change the order on the trade form.
  • Archive takes the field off the trade form. Its values stay on your trades and in your export, and Restore brings it back.
  • Delete removes the field and its value on every trade. This can't be undone.

You can't change a field's type. One exception: when a Text field's answers settle into a few values, Vink offers Make it a choice field. Each trade keeps its answer.

How many you can have

Only active fields count toward your plan. Archive one to make room for another.
