HelpLogging trades
Get a good chart reading, and fix a wrong one
Short answer
Type over any wrong field before you click Save trade. Vink reads the exact prices from the price scale on the right of your chart, so keep that scale clear of other labels.
Chart readings 100 a month on Basic, unlimited on Pro.
When you drop a TradingView screenshot on New trade, Vink reads the trade off the chart and fills in the form. Every field it filled carries a blue read tag. You check those fields before you save, and you can change any of them.
What Vink reads
- The symbol, from the label at the top left of the chart.
- The timeframe, from the timeframe selector.
- The entry, stop-loss and take profit, from TradingView's long or short position tool. The exact prices come from the labels on the price scale on the right.
- The direction, from which zone of the position tool is on top.
- The R:R the position tool shows.
- The exit and the outcome, if the chart shows the trade closed.
Vink never writes your notes. A field it can't see on the chart stays empty. If you typed a value before dropping the screenshot, Vink keeps yours and fills only the empty fields.
Check and fix the fields
- Drop your screenshot on New trade. The line above the prices says how many fields were read, for example 6 read by AI from your screenshot (check them).
- Compare each field tagged read with your chart.
- Click any field that's wrong and type the right value.
- Click Save trade.
You can change any field later too: open the trade from Trades and click Edit.
When Vink warns about your chart
Vink also compares the prices with the position drawn on your chart. When they don't fit, it shows one of these warnings on the form:
- Your chart shows a long, but this trade is set as a short. Check the direction.
- For the long on your chart, the stop and target are on the wrong sides of the entry. Check them.
- The entry, stop and target don't match the position drawn on your chart. Check the three prices.
On a chart without a position tool there is nothing to compare, so Vink shows no warning.
Take a screenshot Vink reads well
The price scale on the right is where Vink reads the exact numbers. The fewer labels on it, the better the reading.
- Draw the trade with TradingView's long or short position tool.
- Keep the price scale clear: hide indicator values, alert labels and other drawings' prices there, so the position tool's three prices stand alone. TradingView's chart settings control which labels the scale shows.
- Keep the symbol and the timeframe at the top left in the shot.
- Take the whole chart, including the price scale. A cropped chart loses the prices.
Read a different screenshot
If you add more than one chart, Vink reads the first one. To read another, click it, then click Read selected screenshot. This replaces the fields Vink reads, including ones you changed.
If nothing was read
Vink says Couldn't read anything off that chart. Enter the trade by hand. The screenshot stays on the trade and you can type every field yourself. Only Symbol and Entry are required.
How chart readings count
Every reading counts toward your plan's chart readings, including a second reading of the same screenshot. A reading that fails on Vink's side doesn't count. On Basic you get 100 a month, and the count starts again on the day of the month your plan renews. When you've used them all, Vink tells you the date they reset, and you can keep adding trades by hand until then.
