Calculator · Risk per trade
How big should your position be? Work it out from your stop-loss.
Pick the market, set your account and your risk, and type your entry and stop-loss. The size that loses exactly your risk at the stop-loss follows.
0.40
lots to risk $100 with a 25-pip stop-loss on EURUSD
That’s 40,000 EUR. 1 pip on 1 lot is $10.00, so a 25-pip stop-loss costs $250.00 per lot.
The math
Size = risk ÷ what the stop-loss costs on 1 lot. On EURUSD 1 lot is 100,000 euros and 1 pip is 0.0001, so a pip on 1 lot is $10. Risking 1% of $10,000 with a 25-pip stop-loss: $100 ÷ (25 × $10) = 0.40 lots. Gold here is 100 ounces a lot with a pip of 0.10, an index 1 per point a lot, Bitcoin 1 coin a lot. Brokers differ, so check yours. When your account is in another currency than the price, the calculator converts at the rate: the entry itself for a pair that holds your currency, the rate you type for anything else. The size is rounded down to 0.01 lot, so the stop-loss never costs more than your risk.

Vink works this out from your own trades. From one screenshot each.
Set your risk per trade on your account once. When Vink reads the entry and stop-loss from your TradingView screenshot, it works out the size in lots, and you check it before you save. Under Settings you can set what 1 lot is at your broker.
